The Important Book

Have you read the book, The Important Book?  Well, it sure is important, so you really should.  ;-)  No seriously, this is a really old book, but boy do my 2nd grade students adore it!  

What a fantastic mentor text to speak to your students about patterns in text and patterns in color!  This text is also amazing to allow the students to take the text frame and write their very own page that could appear in this book.

February Activities

One of my favorite times of year is February.  Not because of Valentine's Day and not because of Presidents' Day!  :)  However, Valentine's Day does make me think of all the important people in my life.  To help the kiddos in my classroom remember about all of the important people in their lives, I love to do these February activities in my classroom!

Friday?!?!  Really!  This week flew by, and I am super excited for this 3-day weekend!  :)  Honestly, there is nothing crazy going on, but just some needed family time.  Also, our district has a Staff Institute Day on Tuesday, so the kids are really excited about their 4-day weekend!!  :)  Is there anything YOU are looking forward to this weekend? :)

January?!?!  2015?!?!  Holy Cow!  I cannot believe Emma was with us for the whole year of 2014!  Time really does fly!  :)  I am excited for a fresh start in 2015!  As with every year, I have very great ideas at the beginning to lead a healthier lifestyle, and this year is the same.  I do hope that I can continue to feed my family good, healthy and tasty meals.  I plan on looking up healthy meals and organizing them better, so I can cook them more often!  I really do hope I can find more time to just write.  I LOVE TO WRITE.  There are many people who love to read before they go to bed.  Well, I used to write before I went to bed.  I am hoping to get back to that.  May it be writing the children's book I have so thought out in my head, write milestones that Emma has achieved and my thoughts and feelings about the love of our lives, or simply writing about what happened that day.  It is my way to unwind after a busy, hectic day.  Happy New Year!
